Our organization, Discovering Deaf Worlds, has recently completed a film called Discovering: Shuktara. This is the remarkable story of 18 boys and girls in Kolkata, India, most of whom are deaf, who were given a second chance at life after being abandoned by their families or escaping abusive homes. We are thrilled to announce that we will be showing this film at The Little Theatre on East Ave on July 22nd as part of a Discovering Deaf Worlds fundraiser. In addition, David Earp, founder of Shuktara, and Alison Saracena, longtime friend to Shuktara, will be in town from India for a panel discussion following the film. Click on event flyer with more details and brochure. Please let us know if you would like us to provide more information.
Thanks for all you do!

Researchers at RIT/NTID have developed a test to screen deaf and hard-of-hearing adults for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Having an accurate assessment – in the client’s preferred language – is critical in determining what treatment or other actions may be most beneficial.

Grace Road Church is a new Christian Church in Rochester. Our goal is to be a casual, authentic church of people who are pursuing Jesus in their daily lives. Our services start at 10am on Sundays and we are currently meeting at the German House on 315 Gregory Street in Rochester (in the South Wedge area, not far from the Highland Hospital, the U of R, and Highland Park.)
As a church that exists for our region, we have a strong desire to make Grace Road a home for the deaf community in Rochester. Our desire is to develop a strong group of interpreters who will volunteer to help us interpret the singing and the message for our deaf and hard of hearing attendees during our services on Sunday morning.
As a new startup, our resources are limited, so if any interpreters are already looking for a church home and would be willing to use their skills to help us on our mission, we would like to hear from you. You can email kevinmaloney1@gmail.com if you have more interest.
For more information on Grace Road Church, check us out on the web at www.GraceRoadChurch.org.

Hi everyone…
If you want to improve the bus services, please click on the Bus Rider Questionnaire.
If you do not ride the bus and wish the bus service was more available, then you can do this survey. This survey is for everyone.
Please feel free to forward this email to your friends if you feel that they wish Rochester had better bus services. Keep in mind they get $8 million dollars profit last few years, and send that money to New York State rather than improve the services here in Rochester. And, this is something for you to remember.
Below is The Action Alert from CDR:
Calling All Bus Riders!!!
RGRTA is seeking customer input about the fixed-route bus system. If you, or someone you know is a bus rider, let RGRTA know how you feel by answering their!
*Please note: There is no space in the survey for additional comments. You may want to use the space reserved for comments about the Trip Planner to enter your additional comments.

At the Interpretek headquarters in Rochester, CEO Michael Rizzolo has a huge message painted on his door. It reads, in all caps: THINK BIG. So it’s fitting that the leader of this local sign language interpreter referral company isn’t surprised by his company’s impressive gross revenue of $7.1 million.
“Communication makes things happen,” Rizzolo says.
