Rochester School for the Deaf recently hired Steven Wright to be coordinator of PRIDE, a supported-employment program for adults with hearing loss.
Wright comes to Rochester and RSD from Buffalo, New York, where he worked as program manager at Deaf Adult Services. His responsibilities there included overseeing VESID job placements and working as an ASL instructor and as a deaf interpreter.
For PRIDE Wright coordinates job training, job placement, and supported employment services for deaf adults who have additional disabling conditions. Currently, PRIDE serves 40 clients. PRIDE’s goal is to place deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals into competitive employment with job coaching to assist them in becoming a productive and self-supporting worker in the community.
Wright holds a degree on English from University of Buffalo and will complete a master’s degree program in organizational leadership and development at Medaille College in 2008.

Hi everyone,
I am not sure if any of you realize that January 1, 2008 our current analog broadcast television will start its transition to an all-digital system.
By February 17, 2009, the old system should be fully disconnected and starting to use the all-digital system. For those who are using television sets connected to cable, satellite or other pay TV service do not require converters and captioning will still work.
For those who are using “rabbit ear” or a rooftop antenna for TV reception will need a converter to have the TV and captioning system to work. For those who are concerned about upgrading their current system, the government will be providing coupons for these converters for those who January 1st, 2008 till around March 2009.
For more information about these converters and transition please visit the following link:
