Sam Nichols, about the death of one of our brave Warriors, who was a patient in the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md, at the same time that Sam was. As always, when I hear the news of the loss of one of our warriors, it cuts deep. Yet another brave warrior has paid the ultimate price for the freedoms that we take for granted.

Discontinuing DeafROC

February 21, 2008 · 16 Comments

endkey.jpg

I started DeafROC five months ago to encourage communication within the local deaf community, but it hasn’t worked.

I am truly amazed by the sheer absence of any feedback or comments left on this blog. Despite dozens of postings on numerous topics, there have been only two comments left here in the past 10 weeks.

For me, the last straw was when I wrote earlier this week seeking input on arts accessibility and was rewarded with ZERO emails or comments.

All I was seeking was some kind of discussion or communication.

For example, the post about Family Fun Day, why couldn’t someone thank the people who ran that event? The post about Greg Livadas, where were all the people saying congrats on the new job? The post about the guy who helped at the multi-car crash, how come no one could say ‘good job’ to him?

Every post I send out seems to end up in a black abyss. It truly makes me feel as if the Rochester deaf community is brain dead. Compare to DeafDC.com, where every post gets numerous comments.

I gave it the old college try, but my life is such that I should not engage in ongoing activities that leave me feeling ignored and unappreciated.

Thus I have decided to discontinue my efforts on this blog and focus my energies on more rewarding endeavors.

UPDATE (Feb. 28th) .. See comment 11.
