“Occupational Hazards in Sign Language Interpreting: What they didn’t tell you in school”
Abstract: Interpreting training tends to focus primarily on themes pertaining to language skills; essential training in personal protection may be neglected. Within the Interpreting literature, “Occupational Hazards” are limited in scope to RMI / CT (repetitive motion injury / cumulative trauma). This presentation will explore possible risks, preventions and self advocacy.
